“I’ve reached a point in life where I must confront my age, my health condition, and my lingering injuries. These realities are not going away; in fact, they are only becoming more pronounced with time.

Recently, I took a much-needed three-week break from my usual routine of 7-9 classes a week . During this break, I had a profound realization.

I HAVE REACHED MY NEW 100%.

It’s no longer productive to dwell on being unwell, aging, or physically broken. This body of mine, despite its imperfections, is what I have to work with.

While on vacation with my son, he impressed his uncle by effortlessly performing a pistol squat. His uncle, citing his bad knees, claimed he could do the same. However, it wasn’t his knees that held him back; it was his overall fitness level. My 15-year-old son, an amateur wrestler who does crossfit three times a week, is in a league of his own.

I’ve always been aware of the excuses we make for ourselves and others. I despise them. I’ve strived to avoid making excuses throughout my life. In fact, many people I interact with regularly have no idea about the challenges I face, including my battle with multiple sclerosis, which I’ve never used as an excuse.

But I’ve also been lying to myself about reaching 100%. My knee will never be the same, and my hip remains a mystery. My finger and thumb have their own issues. Yet, despite it all, this is me at 100%.”
